Who This Service Is For
Keys Roofing is built for the greater St. Louis area's most discerning homeowners: people who care how the roof looks from the street, what goes into it, and whether the work is documented well enough to stand up years later. That usually means homes like these:
- Estate homes on acreage in Town and Country
- Luxury estates and new builds in Chesterfield West
- Large lots and custom builds in Wildwood
- Homes in Ladue, one of St. Louis's most exclusive areas
- Executive homes and golf communities in Creve Coeur
- Historic, premium homes in Kirkwood, and upscale urban living in Clayton
- Complex rooflines with multiple gables, dormers, chimneys and valleys, anywhere in our territory
Keys is not the cheapest roofer in St. Louis and does not try to be. We use premium materials, take the time the details need, and stand behind the work.
Atlas and Malarkey Shingles, Installed to Spec
Keys Roofing is a proud installer of Atlas and Malarkey shingles, and we standardize on those two manufacturers on purpose. Standing behind two product lines means our crew knows their install specs, fastening patterns and flashing details cold, instead of spreading that knowledge across a dozen brands. We follow each manufacturer's fastening pattern so the shingle stays in its tested wind rating class. More in Atlas and Malarkey: Why We Install What We Install.
Many premium lines, including the ones we install, use polymer-modified asphalt, which as a category stays more flexible across temperature swings and holds up better to impact, which matters in a climate that swings from summer heat to winter freeze. For a home you plan to live in, architectural shingles are the recommendation we make almost every time: their layered, staggered profile reads as texture and shadow lines from the curb, closer to the look of wood shake. More in Architectural vs. Three-Tab Shingles.
We do not quote wind ratings or warranty lengths from memory. Ask, and we hand you the current Atlas or Malarkey spec sheet and warranty documentation, plus our own workmanship terms in writing, as explained in Roof Warranties Decoded.
See the Roof Before It Goes On
Both manufacturers offer online design tools for choosing a shingle color. The Atlas design studio lets you upload a photo of your home and see Atlas shingles on your actual roof, choose colors, compare styles and save favorites. The Malarkey roof designer lets you visualize Malarkey shingles on a roof and explore their product line and colors.
Kaleb, who owns Keys Roofing, is directly involved in material selection on every project.
Complex Rooflines: Where the Details Decide the Roof
A shingle field laid properly sheds water reliably. Roofs actually leak at the interruptions: chimneys, walls, dormers, valleys and pipes. The more of those features a roof has, the more it depends on flashing, fussy work in places nobody sees from the ground. On these roofs we:
- Flash chimneys with a two-part system: step flashing woven into every shingle course, and counter flashing set into the mortar and lapped over it.
- Run step flashing where a slope meets a wall or dormer, with kick-out flashing at the bottom to throw water into the gutter instead of down inside the wall.
- Protect valleys, the highest-traffic waterway on the roof, with metal or membrane under cut or woven shingles.
- Check attic ventilation as part of the roof system, because an attic that cannot breathe cooks shingles from below and can affect warranty coverage.
Caulk is never the repair. The honest fix is metal, layered correctly, and it is the only kind we install. More in Flashing: Where Roofs Actually Leak.
Photo-Documented Inspections
Every Keys inspection follows the same order, from the ridge down to the gutter line, section by section, and we photograph each part: the shingle field, ridge caps, valleys, pipe boots, vents, gutters and downspouts. Then we go through every photo with you, plainly, before anyone talks about scope or price. If a roof does not need work, we say so.
Inspections are free, including a free pre-storm inspection, and the photo record keeps paying off: records that exist before a problem carry far more weight in a warranty or insurance conversation than records assembled after one. See How We Inspect a Roof.
Permits, Scheduling and Communication, Handled
St. Louis County alone contains close to ninety separate municipalities, and requirements vary from one to the next, so a roof in Ladue and a roof in Chesterfield can sit under different rulebooks. On every Keys job the permit question is ours: we confirm the jurisdiction, carry the licensing the municipality requires, file before work starts, schedule the inspection and close the permit out where one is required. You get copies for your records. More in Roofing Permits in the St. Louis Area.
The rest of the project is handled the same way: scheduling and inspections, material selection and warranty management, insurance paperwork and adjuster coordination after a storm, and post-storm emergency response. We respond to every inquiry within 24 hours, show up on time, communicate clearly, and leave the property cleaner than we found it. If a punch-list item needs a second look after the job, we come back and finish it without an invoice.
